Types of computer mouse

Computer mouse is an important computer device which helps in accomplishing various tasks. There are some tasks that can become difficult without a computer mouse. Mouse makes it uncomplicated and faster to accomplish tasks which was otherwise difficult to perform. For most of the tasks such as installation, creating files, manipulating files, opening and closing application, saving data and many other works can be easily performed with the help of computer mouse. There are different types of computer mouse available in the market. With the advancement of technology this device is also evolving accordingly. Let use see some basic types of mouse that one can be availed.

The very first type of computer mouse is Mechanical mouse which was widely used initially. This device had rubber ball or metal ball implanted in the underneath of the device. The ball was able to rotate in any direction which made the cursor on the screen move in parallel direction. To make it efficiently work one had to use a mouse pad which made the ball to rotate easily.

The second type of mouse is Optomechanical mouse. It was merely and advanced version of Mechanical mouse. The only difference was that it used optical sensors to detect the motion of the mouse ball to provide similar on-screen movement. These types of computer mouse also required mouse pad to work efficiently.

The latest version of mouse device is Optical mouse which eradicates the use of mouse ball. This type of mouse uses optical sensors directly contacting the surface underneath the device. It does not need any mouse pad, as it can be used on any plain surface. The sensor rays coming out from the underside of the mouse detect the movement and offer the same motion on the computer screen. There are many devices under these categories. However, optical computer mouse is widely used now days as it offers faster and easier operation.
